Promptly Unhinged: What has helped you feel more like yourself lately?

guiding chaos, one prompt at a time

Sometimes life feels like you’re one tab, one notification, one tiny stressor away from forgetting who you are.

This prompt is your gentle call back.
Not to who you were supposed to be.
Just to the version of you that feels a little more steady, a little more known.

Why This Prompt Matters

In nervous system terms, we often talk about regulation but we rarely talk about recognition.
You can be regulated and still feel disconnected from yourself.
This prompt invites you to notice the moments that reconnected you.

These moments don’t have to be profound. In fact, the smaller they are, the more powerful they tend to be.

Maybe it was:

  • A person who felt like home

  • A place where your nervous system softened

  • A small ritual that reminded you what grounding feels like

  • Or just the comfort of putting your hoodie on the right way

These aren’t just comforts. They’re identity cues reminders to your system that you’re still here.
Still you. Even in the chaos.

Journal Prompt: What has helped you feel more like yourself lately?

Try writing:

  • A short list of moments where you felt more like “you”

  • Descriptions of what those moments felt like in your body

  • Names of people, places, objects, or music that gave you a sense of ease

  • A recipe-style entry (one part familiar, one part steady, one part joy)

There’s no wrong way to do this. Your nervous system doesn’t need full sentences it needs reminders.

Keep this one close. Write it down. Notice it. Revisit it on the days when everything feels like too much.
