Frequently Asked Questions

How long will therapy take?

Unfortunately, there is no exact answer to this. A few of the main factors is what are you wanting to work on in therapy. Some people come to get relief for one issue only and therapy can be brief; however, our lives can be complicated and multiple issues may need to be worked on to get the desired relief. Another major factor in therapy success is you doing the work: being honest with your therapist, showing up to sessions and practicing skills as discussed in sessions. Please feel free to ask me any questions you have about this in our initial consultation or anytime during therapy.

How often are sessions and how long are they?

I generally see clients on a weekly basis for one 50-minute session. However, different clients have different needs. Longer sessions may also be booked for EMDR reprocessing work.

Will therapy make me feel better?

Often the goal of therapy is to feel relief from what is causing you pain or distress; however, therapy can be challenging at times during the process. Therapy at times challenges what you think and feel; along with getting in touch with painful past memories and feelings. As your therapist, I am here to help you manage whatever comes up for you with support and coping skills.

What is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker?

A Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) is a master's level professional that works in a wide variety of settings to provide emotional support, mental health evaluations, therapy, and case management services to people experiencing psychological, emotional, medical, social, and/or familial issues.

Do you accept insurance?

While I do not accept insurance directly, I am happy to make out a statement for you to submit to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement. If you do wish to submit to your insurance, you should call your insurance carrier and ask about your mental health services.

Do you accept HSA, Health Savings Account?

Yes, I can provide you a receipt for services or use square with your HSA Card.

What if I cannot afford your fee?

If you are interested in working with me but are worried about not being able to afford my fee, don’t let that deter you from contacting me. I do offer some sliding scale spots, or I might be able to refer you to a therapist who can accommodate your financial needs.

What is your cancellation policy?

Sessions must be canceled 24 hours in advance to avoid being charged the full $175 fee.
